Dr. Edwin A. Locke

Edwin A. Locke, PhD, is an internationally known and widely published scholar in the field of industrial organizational psychology, with fifteen years of clinical experience and more than three decades as a professor of psychology and of management at the University of Maryland. He has written over 280 books, chapters, and articles and is widely cited in psychological literature.

He is also a scholar and advocate of the works of Ayn Rand, has written and spoken extensively about her philosophy, and has been a senior writer for the Ayn Rand Institute. His numerous contributions include his lecture on "Romantic Love in the Novels of Ayn Rand." In collaboration with co-author Ellen Kenner, he has presented a workshop on romance and family issues, "Romance: Bringing Love and Sex Together."

He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and of the American Psychological Society, has been recognized by his peers with many scholarly awards, and frequently speaks at conferences on the topic of setting goals for life and happiness.

He earned his PhD from Cornell University and his BA from Harvard University. Dr. Locke lives in California.

Dr. Ellen Kenner

Ellen Kenner, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice and host of the nationally-syndicated radio talk show, The Rational Basis of Happiness®. Her specialty is exploring how to apply the rational, pro-happiness philosophy of Ayn Rand's Objectivism to mental health issues.

Dr. Kenner has been a speaker at Objectivist conferences for many years and has led workshops on romance and family issues, including "Romance: Bringing Love and Sex Together," presented in collaboration with co-author Edwin Locke. She makes frequent media appearances.

Dr. Kenner earned her PhD from the University of Rhode Island and her BA from Brown University.
