There is a cliché which states that ``one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter."
The person who utters this is unaware of the difference between the initiation of force against innocents and the use of force in self-defense. The quote by Ayn Rand at the top of this page sums up the essential issue.
There is no moral greyness here: Just as a bank robber who shoots a bank teller is a murderer, and the bank security guard who shoots the robber is not, so to a terrorist is a terrorist and a freedom fighter is a freedom fighter.
As is always the case, the moral is the practical. To withhold moral support for those acting in self-defense is to simultaneously give moral support to those who initiate force against the innocent. What could be more impractical?
